I love the text portion of the curriculum is broken into 2 different student workbooks. I’ve realized that Bear feels overwhelmed when he thinks he has a huge book to work through each year.
Being divided into semester texts helps cut down on the overwhelm and also makes it easier for him to take his books with him, when needed.
The bright and colorful artwork keeps him engaged, while the small snippets of information make learning more effective.
He loves that he can see exactly what he’s going to be learning during the day’s lessons.
The online portal is simple to use, both for me and Bear. I can quickly and easily see exactly what he’s been working on and what’s on the docket for the week.
He simply has to log in to his dashboard and get started! The platform is very kid-friendly and simplifies the process for him. The fun characters and beautiful artwork make it enjoyable, as he works through the lesson.
Once he clicks an activity as “complete,” he moves on to the next task.

How to Use it in Your Homeschool
One of my favorite things about Discover! curriculum is that it comes complete with a schedule that works with YOU, instead of you trying to keep up with it!
Our Discover! Science 5 curriculum is divided into 9 chapters. That means we’ll be completing one chapter each month of the school year.
Each chapter is broken down into lessons. We try to cover 2 lessons each week, depending on how much Bear is enjoying it.
For us, we do science each Monday and Tuesday. I’ve found that starting the week off with his favorite subject makes our week go more smooth but you can choose to do as much or as little as you want, whenever you want!
The Instructor Guide has made teaching science fun and easy for me!
