Online Classes: The Secret to Doing it All

Does it feel impossible to “do it all” in your homeschool? Mr. D can help!

I was scrolling through Facebook the other day when I stopped dead in my tracks.

There she was, a beautiful girl I went to high school with, in a stunning photo that showed exactly how little she had aged in the last 19 years.

This particular girl had been beautiful since they day I met her in 6th grade. She is one of those people who just glow. Lights up every room she walks in to. You know the kind, right?

Well, I just couldn’t believe my eyes as I scrolled through the comments. Here she was, on FACEBOOK, admitting that she had gotten some work done to her face. She was shouting it from the rooftops because she had recently learned that some of her friends had kept their youthful appearance with a little bit of “help” from Botox.

In fact, she was shocked to learn that these everyday women (nurses, stay-at-home moms, teachers, dance instructors) had been getting work done for YEARS. She just assumed they had aged more gracefully than the rest but she was wrong.

And she wanted to tell the whole world about experience with injections so they would stop comparing apples to oranges.

Online classes can help you get more done in your homeschool!

This got me thinking about a recent revelation I had.

No one does it all.

No one.

But also, no one TELLS you they aren’t doing it all.

They just let you believe whatever it is that you believe.

The mom who seems to have it all together isn’t doing it alone. She likely has a team that helps her, whether she admits it or not:

  • Someone who drops her kids off at soccer practice each week
  • A meal kit delivered to her house each week
  • Grandparents who spend hours entertaining the kids while she works
  • A housecleaner who keeps her house sparkling clean and tackles piles of laundry for her

And there’s nothing wrong with getting a little help. In fact, it’s GENIUS! You can really take a lot of stress off of yourself when you start outsourcing the work that you don’t enjoy.

I do it in every aspect of my life. Work, home and school are the main areas that I do that!

I love homeschooling my kids. I really do. But there are so many things that are required of me that I HAD to figure out a way to simplify our homeschool before I got burnt out.

And I did just that.

Early on in our homeschool years, I discovered that I could easily take responsibilites off of my plate and pass them on to people who actually ENJOY teaching that subject. (Because we all know that kids can tell if you don’t want to be teaching something, am I right!?!?)

The trick is finding a trusted person to pass those duties off to.

Dennis DiNoia is one of the most trusted names in the homeschool world!

Online classes have revolutionized the homeschool world, allowing us to learn things from folks we only dreamed about before.

With online classes, students are able to really grasp concepts better than if they were just reading out of a boring old textbook. Students look forward to their scheduled class times and make connections with other students their age.

5 Reasons We Love Online Classes in Our Homeschool

Flexibility:

One of our favorite things about online classes is the flexibility they offer. We are able to take self-paced classes with Mr. D. If life happens (and let’s be real, it WILL happen!) we are able to skip a week and pick up where we left off. There’s no rush to get through the class and we’re able to work at our own pace.

It’s the freedom that homeschoolers love!

Personalized Education:

Mr. D is unique in that he makes sure your student is successful. If your child is struggling in a self-paced class, you can send him a message and he will get you the help you need to fully grasp the concepts being taught.

It’s the best of both worlds: online lessons with a teacher who cares!

Improve Time Management:

One thing a lot of homeschoolers struggle with is time management but online classes can help. With live online classes, students learn the importance of showing up on time, while still working at their own pace.

Self-paced classes give students even more control of their education. They have to ensure that they complete all of their work, without a teacher standing next to them, reminding them to keep up. It’s a new level of responsibility that they’ll need to master.

Saves Time:

Let’s be real: driving to co-op classes can take up an entire day. One year, we took classes at 11 am. We struggled to get anything done beforehand and after class, well, let’s just say the day was shot!

Online classes are simple: just roll that chair right up to your desk and you’re there! You don’t even have to brush your teeth first. 😛

More Variety:

Mr D offers an array of online classes! What started as strictly math classes has grown into so much more! Mr. D is excellent at seeing a void in the homeschool world and jumping in to fill it!

Just a few of the online classes he offers include:

  • Information Technology
  • Digital Music Production
  • ACT Math Bootcamp
