The Nomadic Professor offers American History online classes like you’ve never seen before!
American History is not one of my favorite things to teach. I feel like there are so many ways to spin a story, so who gets to decide exactly which “spin” we teach out kids? There are different sides to each story and I think it’s important to cover them all.
But how can we ensure that our kids are able to fully grasp the different sides of each topic, with no bias or manipulation included?
Learning to look at things from different angles is a skill that many people don’t have. But it’s definitely something that I feel is important and want to teach my own kids.
One thing that we’ve ran into, time and time again is that homeschool curriculum often covers history in a bias or twisted way. They show the pretty parts of history, not necessarily the ugly truth.
That’s why I was so excited when I stumbled upon the Nomadic Professor.

While there are several things we love about The Nomadic Professor’s classes, today, we’re talking about Emersyn’s 3 favorite things about the courses:
The Nomadic Professor offers something that no one else does: on-location videos. That means that while you’re learning about the Aztec, you’re watching videos from the actual areas they lived. This is a fun and engaging way to connect the people you’re learning about to the places they lived and brings history to life in a way like never before.
Easy to Use:
The Nomadic Professor offers an easy-to-navigate lessons. The daily checklist and calendar make it a breeze to see exactly what needs done each and every day.
Each lesson can be read aloud to the student or they can opt to read it themselves.
Students can view preview pages, content, summary, quizzes and documentary based-lessons. The guided notes help students track key ideas.
Learn Your Way:
Emersyn is one of those kids who learn best by doing things. She’d rather go outside and walk around, observing the world around her than read a book about it. This has proven true for her in geography and science especially but we haven’t really found a way to learn history like this, without taking trips constantly.
But The Nomadic Professor changed all of that! She can learn in ways that truly work for her.

Students also learn important skills that will help ready them for college: note-taking, research, thinking like a fact-checker and writing logical arguments are just a few.
The Nomadic Professor encourage students to think carefully and allows them plenty of ways to do just that.
