Vocabulary Quest: Games for Homeschoolers

Do you have a certain subject that you struggle to teach in your homeschool? I have a couple and unfortunately, they are some of the most important, in my opinion. Math is hard for me to teach simply because I’m not a numbers girl. And, until we found Vocabulary Quest, vocab was so boring that we just skipped it most of the time.

But a person’s vocabulary says a lot about them. Have you ever talked to someone and thought “Man, they’re really smart!” It may not have a thing to do with their education but they have a broad vocabulary. That’s why I knew I needed to find a way to make vocabulary time HAPPEN in our homeschool.

Teaching vocabulary can feel tedious and boring. Without a real curriculum, we simply used flashcards and I came up with a list of vocabulary words on my own. It didn’t take long to realize that wasn’t going to improve their vocabulary. In fact, it made them hate new words.

I challenged the kids to use one of their new vocabulary words each day and see if the rest of the family could “spot it.” It was fun for a few days but the kids were so bored with my flashcard approach that they couldn’t even remember the word of the day.

I received this product for free and was compensated for my time. All opinions are my own.

After years of letting vocabulary slide by, without much growth, I knew I needed something else and Vocabulary Quest was exactly what I was looking for.

Vocabulary Quest is a game-based software that helps your kiddos learn new words while they battle through stages. While they play, students will learn new vocabulary words and the spelling will be reinforced. I’ve fallen in love with it and my kids have, too.

What Your Need to Know About Vocabulary Quest

It’s Affordable:

We had previously tried out a different vocabulary program but it was subscription based and cost $8.99 a month, per student. It didn’t take long for the cost of that to add up and that simply wasn’t in our budget.  Vocabulary Quest has a one time payment of $50! For our family, that’s less than 2 months worth of access to the other program!

Lifetime access:

When you find something that works, you want to stick with it! I hate recurring bills and having to research the same curriculums, time and time again. That’s why I am so happy that Vocabulary Quest offers lifetime access with your download.

Each purchase comes with 7 digital downloads so each family member can install the game on their own computer. If you get a new computer, all you need to do is simply email them and they can get you up and playing again.

Unlimited users:

Wouldn’t it be nice if you had something the whole family could play? Well, the fact is, you can! I enjoy playing Vocabulary Quest just as much as my teenagers. The whole family can use the program to gain new knowledge and improve their vocabulary.

We have 3 kiddos, so I figure that’s about $16 for each of them to have access to a high quality vocabulary program for their entire homeschool career! You simply can’t beat that!

Quick and effective:

You don’t need to spend hours each day poring over new words. Spending 15-20 minutes each day helping Master Spellright restore the Lands of Vocab is all it takes! You will see a huge improvement in your kids’ vocabulary, while they enjoy playing the captivating games.

5th -12th Grade:

Spelling and vocabulary tend to get overlooked in the later years of school. In first grade, a weekly spelling list is normal but it’s usually phased out by middle school. But with Vocabulary Quest, kids keep learning spelling and vocab all the way through high school.

Since the program is geared towards older kids, they won’t find it babyish and boring like so many other programs offered. In fact, my kiddos love creating their own heros! They could spend all day looking through the armor, hairstyles and other fun options.

Encourages spelling

Every homeschooler knows that we’re basically relying on auto-correct for our kiddos spelling. Kidding…mostly! 😉
It’s hard to teach spelling, without making it boring but Vocabulary Quest reinforces spelling for us! With crossword puzzles and fill-in-the blank questions, kiddos have to learn to spell their vocabulary words, too. It’s a win-win!

Easy to Use:

Vocabulary Quest is extremely user friendly. You can use the ready-to-go lists or create your own. It’s up to you to choose how hard you want it to be. With multiple modes, it’s easy to customize it to suit your needs. With the word tracker, you’ll know exactly which words you’ve missed and it keeps a list of suggested words to study.

Best of all, kids can use it on their own and they’ll want to. The games are super fun! While they’re busy learning new vocab words, us moms can actually get some housework done. Or sit down with a cup of warm coffee… whichever is more important. 😉

If you’re like me and have put off teaching vocabulary for too many years, now is the time to grab Vocabulary Quest. With so many benefits and such an appealing price tag, there’s no reason not to be using it in your homeschool.
