Last week, we took an awesome field trip to the Joplin Regional Airport. That evening, I posted about it on my blog and shared a few photos on my personal Facebook page.
My cousin and her husband own their own plane. After seeing our pictures, they got the “itch” to get up in the air. They posted on Facebook that they would be flying down and would take us for a joy ride, if we wanted.
Boy, did we!
It was an awesome experience!
The plane only holds 4 people, so Mr. Man and the girls went up first.
The girls loved it.
Apparently, they were a giggling mess the entire time.
This is a gigantic hole, about 7 miles from our house. I didn’t know it at the time, but apparently, it’s a lime quarry.
There’s our house!
You can hardly see it b/c it’s basically camo. (We have a green house with a brown roof)
Our neighors across the street have a bright red roof, which helped me locate our house.
After exploring our town from the air, we decided to go to Grand Lake. It’s about 45 minutes from our house but only took 7 minutes to get to by air.
As soon as we were in the air, we could see the lake!
You can see Sailboat Bridge!
We did a “touch and go” at the Grove Airport, then explored Monkey Island.
After that, we headed home.
This is our local college, which is located right by the airport.
And the Industrial Drive area.
That’s all the photos I got, because at this point, I started getting motion sick.
Don, our pilot, managed to land the plnae, while reaching behind him to grab a “barf bag” for me, from the back pocket on the passenger seat.
He did it all so skillfully, I didn’t even realize we were landing.
We all had a great time and were so thankful that they let us have this experience.
