We all know that an apple a day keeps the doctor away but that’s not all it’s good for. It’s also responsible for some of our favorite snacks: apple pies, peanut butter and apples, apple dump cake and fried apples, just to name a few.
Oh yummmy! I love that there isn't a ton of sugar. Finally a healthy snack my kids will love, without all the added sugar. This simple applesauce recipe is the BOMB!
Whether you wish to celebrate National Apple Month in October or just want to fill your house with the amazing scent of apple deliciousness, homemade applesauce is the perfect food.

Serve it as an appetizer, snack, side dish or over ice cream as a dessert and your taste buds will thank you.

The crisp sweetness of homemade applesauce is just what our taste buds crave and who can resist a healthy snack? Our go-to favorite recipe is simple and quick and can be made in just a few hours, with only a few minutes of prep work.  Once you try this amazingly simple recipe, you’ll never want to eat store-bought applesauce again.

Ahhh-mazingly Simple Applesauce Recipe

3 lbs. of apples
1/2 c. of water
1 tbsp. lemon juice
1 tsp. ground cinnamon
1/4 tsp. salt
1/8 tsp. nutmeg
1/4 tsp. vanilla
1 tbsp. honey

Dice peeled apples into small chunks and place in your Crock Pot. Add the rest of the ingredients and stir gently together. Cook on high for 4 hours or low for 6 hours. Remove from crock pot and store leftovers in refrigerator. {I like to store our applesauce in mason jars! It’s pourable and easy to store.}

If you’re in a hurry, you can adjust this recipe to work in your Instant Pot. Instead of taking HOURS, this recipe can be ready in under 10 minutes. I’m not even kiddin’, y’all! Instant Pots are a must-have in any busy kitchen. Simply toss this in while you grill up some chicken for dinner. Ta-da! Fresh homemade applesauce in only 8 minutes.

Did you know that you just whipped up one of the best secret ingredients to perfectly moist baked goods?

That’s right, folks. You can ensure your goodies are perfect by substituting applesauce for the vegetable oil. Add applesauce to your breads, cookies, pancakes, muffins, cakes and pies for the perfect dose of natural sweetener.  Not only will the applesauce turn your baked goods from meh to WOW!, it will be easy on your waistline, making your favorite sweet treats guilt-free!
By using honey as a natural sweetener, you’re sure to become addicted to this simple and tasty treat.

PIN IT!
