Seeing a blood-thirsty, man-eating beast of a shark, shooting through the water towards me with his jaws ready to snap around my panicked body is one of my life-long fears. The other is homeschooling high school.
No matter how simple you try to make high school, it’s scary territory. It’s your last few years to make sure your child knows all they need to know before college. Throw in extra pressure and teenage attitudes and one can quickly become overwhelmed.
Deciding on a homeschool curriculum is a huge task and one that you should spend some time really contemplating before you settle. Between math, science, history, foreign language and English credits, you have your work cut out for you. That’s why I was so thankful to have found Paradigm Accelerated Curriculum, a curriculum that takes the guess-work out of each subject.
I received this product for free and was compensated for my time. All opinions are my own.
3 Ways Paradigm Accelerated Curriculum has Simplified Our Homeschool
One of my goals for my daughter’s freshmen year was to teach her to work by herself. I started easing into student-led learning a few years ago. By the time she graduates, I want her to be able to complete most of her work with as little help from me as possible. I think independent-learning is a skill that must be mastered before kids go off to college so they aren’t constantly bugging the professors for help with things they can accomplish on their own. Not only do they need it for college, but it’s a skill they’ll use for the rest of their life.
With Paradigm Accelerated Curriculum, the students are responsible for their own work. Students read the text, answer the questions and even grade their own activity questions. The only thing parents need to do is grade the quizzes and tests. (There are about 3 quizzes per chapter, so it doesn’t require a ton of work from parents.)
Busy homeschool parents everywhere will tell you exactly how important it is to have an open-and-go curriculum. Gone are the days where parents could spend hours planning elaborate unit studies. High school students need to be able to open their curriculum and complete the work that has been assigned. One of my favorite things about Paradigm Accelerated Curriculum is that it can be worked at your own pace. If you miss a few days, it’s no big deal. You can simply pick up where you left off. No need to spend an hour rehashing your plans and adjusting your schedule.
Paradigm Accelerated Curriculum is divided into individual workbooks, making it simple to grab and take with you on vacations, trips or just to the local coffee shop. Instead of lugging around heavy books, students can grab the text and activity booklets they need and work from nearly anywhere!
Interesting and Relevant:
Boring curriculum choices makes students loath the topic at hand. By presenting only the relevant material in an interesting way, students will genuinely enjoy digging in and learning. Paradigm Accelerated Curriculum introduces new topics with real-life scenarios, interesting facts and examples they’ll remember. Dull text is replaced with words that spark a joy for learning and help students fall in love with the subject. The activities help to drive home the information and students test their comprehension by answering questions. Vocabulary words are highlighted to help reinforce them. Some lessons even include scannable QR Codes that present educational videos and images to go along with the lesson.
