When it comes to buying curriculum, it’s easy to let the costs get out of hand. Each subject can easily cost $100 each. When you have multiple kids, using several different curriculum, year after year, the price is enough to scare you! But with Math Mammoth, you can teach math for just a fraction of the price!
All About Math Mammoth
Math Mammoth is the most affordable option you’ll find for homeschooling math. While cheaper usually means lower quality, that isn’t so with this curriculum. In fact, Math Mammoth boasts several of the same features as some of the most expensive math curriculum on the market!
Full Curriculum:
Math Mammoth Light Blue series is a complete curriculum for grades 1st through 7th. Each grade has 2 workbooks (Book A and Book B) that do all the teaching for you!
The Blue Series is perfect for filling in the gaps. Each book is based on topics, instead of grade levels, so you can choose which topics your child is struggling with and work solely on those. No need to cover the concepts they fully grasp.
Nearly Self-Taught:
Once your child can read, they can basically teach themselves using Math Mammoth! The open-and-go format allows them to read the lesson then do the work. There’s no need for you to spend hours, sitting and staring at the book with your child. They’ll quickly learn that they can get it done pretty quickly, if they just do the work. This has saved numerous arguments at our house!
Painless Lessons:
One of my biggest complaints about other math curriculum is that they are just too darn lengthy. Let’s be real: kids don’t get excited about math so expecting them to complete 20 pages of math just isn’t feasible.
Math Mammoth’s lessons are short and easy to digest. In the user guide, they suggest that kids only need to complete about 2 pages each day! That includes both the instruction and the worksheets. While lessons may be 3-5 pages long, kids can break that up into 2 or 3 days.
There’s no reason to rush through the work or pressure the child to do more work than they’re comfortable with.
Mastery:
Material is taught to mastery, which means that the students will master a concept before moving on.
Math Mammoth uses visual modes and exercises to help kids reach a conceptual understanding. Math Mammoth focuses heavily on mental math and number sense, to ensure students understand the concepts they’ve been taught.
Learn Through Topics
Books are organized by topic so that kids can master each topic before moving on. It’s basically like a unit study for math. (And y’all know how much we love unit studies in our homeschool!)
For instance, kids might learn about one of these topics before moving on:
- place value
- measuring
- money
- telling time
- decimals
- percentages
- integers
You Won’t Break the Bank:
Math Mammoth is more than just a high-quality curriculum! They are also incredibly generous with their prices. For just a fraction of other curriculum, you can give your kiddos the same thorough education.
Whether you choose to download the curriculum or buy the workbook, you’ll be amazed at the price of Math Mammoth! Not to mention, you can also grab a set of lesson plans to make your life as a homeschool mom just a little bit easier.
If you do opt to print the workbook, you’ll still have the costs of printing but using a company like Family Nest Printing, you can do so affordably. You can currently print “Math Mammoth Book A” for under $20 using this company.
Then you’ll be able to print another copy for your next child! It’s a great way to reuse curriculum without taking up space on your bookshelf!

All In One Easy Book:
Okay, okay. Technically, each grade is divided into TWO books. But what I mean is that the teaching and the worksheets are all conveniently located in the same book. That means, when we’re going camping for the weekend, we can grab one workbook and stay up to speed on our math work. No need to lug around heavy textbooks, workbooks, teacher’s manuals and all that extra junk.
Included in each book is:
- Teaching lesson
- Student Work
- Review Lessons
Each lesson is quick, easy and only requires one little ol’ workbook. But, man, that book packs a power-punch!
Start Where Needed:
There’s few things in life I hate more than buying a curriculum only to find out it’s not the right level for my kiddos. Math Mammoth offers free assessment tests and over 400 free sample pages. That means, you’re sure to get the book you need the first time you order!
Learn The Easiest Way:
I’ll be honest and say that my kiddos all learn totally different than one another. While my oldest does best reading text, my middle learns best doing hands-on activities. But my youngest learns best when he’s watching videos.
Thankfully, Math Mammoth has covered all the bases. Besides the workbook, you can also find free video lessons.
