Literature Based:

Last year, we began attending a Charlotte Mason co-op in an attempt to get more socialization. But in the midst of it, I fell in love with Charlotte Mason and her principles. They just make sense.

Finding good literature shouldn’t be so hard but it is! I want my kids to read books that teach morals and values, not how to backtalk and make fun of other children, like many popular kids books do.

I prefer classic and pure literature that promotes wholesome thinking. Learning Language Arts Through Literature seamlessly weaves Bible stories into the lessons.

One of my favorite things is that you can simply get the books you need at your local library! I love that I don’t have to add extra books to our home collection but can simply return them when we’re done with them. Because, trust me, our bookshelves always seem to be bursting at the seams.

Independent Work:

I love curriculum that encourage kids to work independently. It’s such an important skill that often gets overlooked by homeschoolers. Being able to easily identify which lessons need completed each day is a huge asset. Kids can easily open their workbook, flip to the current page and get to work. They don’t need a lot of instruction or explanations from their teachers.

This also allows them to work at their own pace. Emersyn would prefer to knock out a whole week’s worth of language arts in one day, so I allow her to do that.
