Learn Interactively with Brilliant

One of my favorite ways to ensure my kids are learning important topics is to reinforce them with other resources. That means, we don’t just rely on a math curriculum to teach our kids math. We also use videos, real life situations and supplemental books to help drive the point home. But our latest favorite thing is allowing the kids to learn interactively with Brilliant.

When we choose to homeschool, we are vowing to do our best to ensure a high-quality and well-rounded education for our kids. But, man! After hours and hours of homeschooling each day, that can feel like quite a huge task to tackle. On top of our studies, I like to make sure my kids are stretching their minds and learning from different points of view.

By incorporating the Brilliant app into our homeschool days, I can rest assured that my kids are getting that high-quality education that we were seeking.

This post is sponsored by Brilliant.org. I received the product for free and was compensated for my time.
As always, I only recommend products our family genuinely enjoys and finds valuable. Brilliant is both of those!

All About Brilliant

Brilliant is an educational app that allows students to learn through bite-size interactive experiences. With over 60 courses available, there’s something for all levels, no matter your ability!

Whether you choose to learn about math, science or computer science, Brilliant has got you covered with their interactive lessons.

The lessons are jam-packed with fun challenges but are formatted so that kids don’t feel overwhelmed or intimidated.

Did you know that students learn 6 times more effectively with interactive learning than they do with lecture videos?

Brilliant is based on 8 basic principles:

Effective math and science learning…

Excites

Is active

Cultivates curiosity

Is applicable

Doesn’t discriminate

Community driven

Allows for failure

Sparks questions

Brilliant was created by some of the most intelligent folks in the industry. They’ve studied everywhere from MIT, Caltech, Duke, the University of Chicago, and more. More importantly, they’re dedicated to bringing the best education in math and science to everyone, no matter their age, race or location! Students are able to learn interactively, while actually having fun!

Learn Interactively

Instead of having students memorize boring data, Brilliant teaches kids to think about STEM in a new way. They approach each problem with a mindset that helps them solve it quickly and efficiently.

Each problem comes with a step-by-step solution that shows students specifically how to solve the problem. This is perfect for those who are trying to grasp a new topic.

Brilliant’s teaching method works much more effectively than traditional science and math textbooks!

  1. Start with simple questions and stories that build your foundation and intuition.
  2. Ramp up to solving problems that seemed beyond your ability.
  3. Study different ways of solving the problems that are out of your grasp.

Falling In Love with Logic

There’s one part of Brilliant that stands out to my family above the rest: Logic! My teen girls both fell madly in love with this section and raced to complete the answers. They loved that Brilliant offers clear explanations with interactive visuals on each problem!

They spent an hour going through the Introduction to Logic puzzles:

  • Order Logic
  • Abstract Order Logic
  • Strategic Order

But there’s still so much more! Next up, they’ll explore:

  • Puzzles & Riddles
  • Multilevel Thinking
  • The Rational Detective

All in all, there are 18 interactive quizzes and over 140 concepts and exercises in the Logic module alone!

That’s a whole lot of fun for my teenage girls, who love to solve problems!

Scientific Thinking

Another of our favorite sections is the “Scientific Thinking.” Again, the kids got so “into” the introduction, they didn’t even think about the fact that they were learning! That’s what I call a HUGE success.

The Scientific Thinking module has 5 sections:

  • Introduction
  • Structure
  • Flow
  • Light
  • Relativity

The Scientific Thinking module has over 20 lessons that are jam-packed with fun challenges and activities.

One of the favorite parts is that each answer is explained thoroughly and in an easy-to-understand manner! There’s no wondering why the answer is what it is with Brilliant! They walk you step-by-step through the problem until you solve the challenge.
