Apologia’s Homeschool Health Course

If you’ve been around for long, you know how stressed I was about high school. From picking the perfect electives to keeping track of credits, it all scared me a little too much. But I knew there were certain classes that I required, along with our state’s requirements. Finding a homeschool health course was on my agenda, so I was thrilled when I found Apologia had recently released one of their own.

I received this product for free and was compensated for my time.

That does not ensure a positive review, as all thoughts are 100% my own.

Finally! An affordable homeschool health course that covers it ALL! #apologia #homeschool #highschool #health #nutrition #mentalhealth #physicalhealth #teenagers

All About Apologia’s High School Health Course

After using Exploring Creation through Health and Nutrition for a few months, I’m excited to share exactly why we love it so much!

Price:

Apologia is one of the most trusted publishers of homeschool curriculum. You can buy with confidence, knowing they’ve created a Godly curriculum that dives deep into each topic they cover. The saying “You get what you pay for” isn’t necessarily true for them. They’ve somehow managed to provide some of the best homeschool health curriculum for a great price. For under $100, you can have a complete homeschool health course that is actually enjoyable to teens.

High School Credit:

If you’ve been around here for long, you know how stressed I was about my daughter starting high school. Piecing together my own curriculum scared the beejees out of me but I couldn’t find a quality curriculum for health. Until I found Apologia’s homeschool health course, I was planning to create my own. It was a sad attempt to cover a subject I wasn’t well-educated in. In fact, I always say that I wish I had learned more about health in high school. I feel like health is a subject that public schools really fail our students. As usual, Apologia has taken a topic that I struggled to teach and made it into a course that I can confidently teach. Best of all, it will cover the health credit our local college requires.

Covers All Aspects of Health:

Apologia’s homeschool health course is like none other I’ve seen in that it goes over a HUGE array of topics. Within the 15 modules, it covers the following:

  • Physical Health– Kids will learn the importance of taking care of their body with regular exercise. In addition, they’ll see exactly how strong their body is and the amazing machine it is.
  • Nutrition– Teens will learn how to fuel their body with healthy foods and ensure they stay hydrated. By the end of the course, they’ll understand the difference between macronutrients and micronutrients, as well as how many calories they should be consuming each day.
  • Emotional Health– Learning to deal with their feelings, as well as how to make good decisions are just a few things that Apologia’s homeschool health course teaches.  Many folks assume that kids can do these things as they mature but until they’re taught, they will likely make bad choices until they figure it out for themselves.  I was SO happy to find a homeschool health course that helps kids realize that mental health is just as important as physical health.  I feel like the mental health of this generation needs so much more focus and this curriculum gently teaches it. From depression and anxiety to managing feelings and getting plenty of sleep, it covers it all.
  • Spiritual Health– One aspect of health that often gets forgotten about is our spiritual health. It’s just as important, if not more important, than other types of health. Using a homeschool health curriculum ensures that your teens’ spiritual health doesn’t get pushed to the side.

50 Hands-On Projects:

With over 50 hands-on projects included in the Student Notebook, your child will learn more about themselves, without needing a ton of help from you. From taking an online hearing test to recording their sleep, they’ll know exactly what their body excels at and what areas they could improve. My teen especially loved connecting with others through acts of service in project 4.6.

3 Days a Week:

One thing that really appeals to my daughter is that she only needs to open her health book 3 days a week. She was afraid of being bored with health and nutrition but the fact that she doesn’t need to spend hours each day poring over the curriculum is a huge bonus!

If you’re struggling to find the perfect homeschool health course, be sure to check out Apologia’s Exploring Creation with Health and Nutrition! You won’t be disappointed.
