Hands-On Science Activities & Curriculum

“You’re such a fun mom!” People used to say it to me all the time. But the fact was, I wasn’t really a FUN mom, I was a hands-on mom. I’m not good at getting in the floor and playing with my kids or telling hilarious stories. I am good at organizing fun activities for my kiddos to enjoy. When we first started homeschooling, we did hands-on science activities and experiments, celebrated silly holidays and took amazing field trips.

As my kids got older and more of my kiddos joined our homeschool, that faded.

I was overwhelmed with trying to figure out how to teach all three of my kiddos at the same time. With a high schooler, middle schooler and elementary kiddo, it was a lot of work. It felt like I was running in circles all day.

I started noticing that my youngest wasn’t getting the same experiences my older kiddos had. Somehow, I had started focusing so much on high school that I was doing the bare minimum with my little guy, which wasn’t fair to him.

I realized, although I love to plan hands-on activities, I simply didn’t have the time to do that anymore. Simply put, I can’t spend hours on Pinterest, looking for fun science activities, then run to ten different stores finding the supplies I’ll need, and then actually find the time to teach my little guy. It just wasn’t realistic anymore.

But…I knew I know kids learn best through hands-on activities, so I started looking for a curriculum that did the work for me.

I received this product for free and was compensated for my time. All opinions are my own.

When our BookShark Science B Package arrived on our doorstep, I knew I’d found exactly what I’d been looking for. The lessons were simple yet engaging. It was packed full of hands-on activities and experiments, but all the hard work was done for me! In a nutshell, it was a dream come true for a busy homeschool mom like myself.

I've been looking for hands-on science activities that don't require a ton of prep and THIS looks perfect for our homeschool! BookShark for the WIN!

Hands-On Science Activities:

Like I said, I knew we needed more hands-on learning but I simply didn’t have the energy to make it happen. When we opened our box of science goodies, my kiddo just dove right in. He loved the magnets but was intrigued about what other experiments we would do with the supplies in the box. (Spoiler Alert: The 30 major experiments center around water, magnets, light and mirrors. There’s literally an activity for everyone!)

The best part about these hands-on science activities is that every single supply you need will be ready and waiting in a compact box, that’s easy to store. The step-by-step instructions and included DVD make it a breeze to teach.

Curious Kids Love It:

So many science curriculum require kids to study the same topic for an entire year. Let’s be real: that gets old, quick! With BookShark Science, we’re studying meteorology, biology, electricity, soil science, astronomy, physiology, and hydrology, all in one year!

It’s perfect for kiddos who want to learn about everything around them and not just one topic! I especially love this approach with younger kids because it shows me exactly what they’re interested in and introduces them to concepts and ideas that really make them think.
