Easy Bedtime Stories for Kids

Am I the only parent who is purely exhausted by the time bedtime rolls around? After homeschooling all day, dinner, baths, clean up and a few minutes to relax, I’m simply ready to hit the sack. But, no, my kids insist on hearing a bedtime story. And, of course, we can only hear about Little Red Riding Hood so many times before the kids get tired of it and start begging for something different. Wouldn’t it be great if there were easy bedtime stories for kids, that didn’t require you to actually get creative?

Story Tyke has the best easy bedtime stories for kids and best of all, it's FREE! It's transformed our bedtime routine and the kids LOVE it!

This last week has been brutal. We’ve been stuck indoors due to an ice storm and to be honest, I’d do anything for a few minutes of peace and quiet. My kids go-go-go from sun up till sundown. And then, just as I’m about to crash (both physically and mentally!) they want me to tell them a bedtime story. Ha.

I’m finally, FINALLY, starting to get the hang of telling easy bedtime stories for kids so I thought I’d share my experience with you!

4 Tips to Easy Bedtime Stories for Kids

Keep It Happy:

My kiddos don’t want just any old bedtime story. They don’t want scary, suspenseful or anything that makes them lay awake and think. They want a happy, cheery story that will help them settle in and have a good night’s rest. Unfortunately, most fairy tales that I know are not a good fit, which leaves me scrambling to come up with my own story. Every. Single. Night.

No Cliff-Hangers:

The truth is, I love telling stories that leave the kids hanging but they don’t enjoy it very much. My 16 year old has severe anxiety and when I used to tell her stories, she would lie awake for hours, wondering how the story would end.

Mom-of-the-Year here wouldn’t even finish the story! I’d get to the climax and end the story abruptly because I was too tired to finish. Anyone else guilty of doing that?

Settle In Before You Get Started:

Nothing is more frustrating than getting halfway through your bedtime story than finding your kiddo asleep, while they still need to change into pajamas and brush their teeth. My kiddos are notorious for laying down with me, hoping for a bedtime story and falling asleep before they complete their bedtime routine. Just make it easier on all of you and make sure the kiddos have went to the bathroom, showered, changed into clean pajamas and brushed their teeth before you start your bedtime story.

Call in for Backup:

Let’s be honest: as busy moms, we have enough on our plate as it is. We don’t need to stress about whether or not our bedtime story is going to suck. That’s why I was so happy when I found Story Tyke.

Story Tyke is a completely free subscription that offers easy bedtime stories for kids. Each school night, they deliver a short but fun bedtime story straight to your inbox at 6:00. That way, all you need to do is open your email and start reading.

What I Love About Story Tyke

Interactive:

As a homeschool mom, it’s second-nature for me to ask my kiddos questions and encourage them to think deeper. Each easy bedtime story from Story Tyke offers a few questions to help engage your kiddos. I love that my kiddos can engage in the stories without needing to watch a video or sit in front of a screen. It gives their minds a chance to unplug from all of the technology and allows them to imagine and get creative!

Simple:

I love that ALL of the work for bedtime stories is done for me. I literally don’t have to do anything at all, except open my phone, flip to  my email and read the email. No clicking around to find the story. No need to hunt for it, day after day. It’s in the actual email, making it super easy to use!

Short:

No need to drag out bedtime. With these easy bedtime stories for kids, I can count on having our story told in under 5 minutes, from start to finish. That leaves me a few extra minutes to snuggle with my kiddos and discuss the story. I’ve found that the longer stories tend to bore kids, so short and sweet is the way to go!

Fun:

Most importantly, my kids love these bedtime stories for kids! The stories are exciting, creative and completely different every single day! Story Tyke quickly made bedtime a favorite time of day for the whole family! It’s a quick and easy way to connect after a long day.

Bedtime is a great time to unwind and spend a few minutes connecting with your kiddos but it can also be stressful. With Story Tyke’s easy bedtime stories for kids, I don’t need to worry about coming up with an interesting story anymore! It’s done for me!
