Quick & Easy DIY Ladybug Slime

Ladybugs are often seen as a sign on good fortune, so when my little ones asked for a DIY ladybug slime recipe, I was excited to give it a whirl.

I love any chance to help my kids explore the world through different activities and textures but this was perfect timing for us. This month, we are studying insects using The Good and The Beautiful’s arthorpod science unit.  So far the kiddos have loved it, so I knew our DIY ladybug slime would be a huge hit! Plus, it gives them something to keep their hands busy while I read aloud to them.

Keep little hands busy with this super simple DIY ladybug slime! The textures and color make it just perfect for fine motor skills. #slime #finemotorskills #homeschooling #ladybugs #slimeshop #homeschooling

DIY Ladybug Slime

Ingredients:

  • 1 airtight container
  • 1 5 oz bottle of clear glue
  • ½ cup water
  • ½ tsp baking soda
  • 1 tbsp contact solution
  • Red coloring
  • Red extra fine glitter
  • Black mini pom poms
  • Small ladybugs
  • Small bowl

Instructions:

  1. Pour the entire 5 oz bottle of clear glue into a small bowl.
  2. Add in ½ cup of water.
  3. Stir in ½ tsp baking soda.
  4. Add in your red coloring.  You can use food coloring, but we really love these soap colorings.  They have great colors and don’t color your hands like the food dye!
  5. Everything’s better with glitter! Add in your glitter now.
  6. Sprinkle in a handful of miniature pom pom’s.
  7. Add 1 tbsp contact solution.
  8. Your slime will instantly begin to form but it will be STICKY!  Don’t panic!
  9. Mix the solution in the bowl until it starts to form.
  10. Knead the slime until it is no longer sticky.
  11. Continue to add the pom poms until you get a look that you are going for.
  12. Finish by adding in a few ladybugs.
  13. Store in an airtight container.
