3 Ways To Use Headsets for Students

One of our most used items in our homeschool are our headsets for students. Over the years, we’ve used them for all sorts of things and today I’m sharing my favorite ways to use them in our homeschool.

3 Ways to Use Headsets for Students

Check out our very favorite headsets for students HERE.

Reading Practice:

One of my favorite ways to use headsets for students is to practice their reading.

We grab a book out of our reading closet and set out to find an audio copy of the book they can read along with. Most of our books are available on OverDrive, Hoopla or the Libby app but if they’re not, we turn to YouTube.

Once we find an audio copy of the book, we sit down to read the book.

The child listens to the audio version and reads aloud, right along with the voices.

I‘ve found that this helps build confidence in reading out loud and helps students grasp the importance of pauses, periods and other punctuation.

It’s a fun and easy way to build lifelong skills that will benefit your kids for years to come. Plus, it’s a fun break from listening to me read their read-aloud books to them!

Online Classes:

Homeschooling is more social than ever and online classes are a great way for kids to learn! You can use headphones to help keep your child from being distracted as it blocks out all other noise.

But having a headset with a microphone opens up a whole new world. Students can quickly and easily jump into interactive classes.

We’ve found that students love interactive classes because it’s a chance to make new friends, all across the world. They are like-minded and usually around the same age as your student.

You typically don’t need a lot of equipment: a cell phone, tablet or laptop and high quality headsets for students.

Create Videos:

For years, I tried to limit our screen time and I still do, but not nearly as much as I used to.

What changed my mind?

Well, technology is blowing up all over the world. In just a few short years, we’ve completely changed the way we work, communicate and build relationships. And technology isn’t going anywhere anytime soon so why fight it?

Creating videos is a great skill for students to have. They can create stop motion videos, create short reels or make hour-long YouTube videos.

And the best part is, you no longer need a dedicated space to create awesome videos. In fact, there isn’t a lot of equipment required. You can use an old phone or camera and a high quality headset to create videos that look professional.

If you’re looking for new ways to include headsets for students in your homeschool, you’ve got to try one of these ideas!
