Y’all know I’m a HUGE fan of Teaching Textbooks but did you know there are so many features that I never even use? Today I want to share with you some things you didn’t know about Teaching Textbooks!

If you’ve been around for awhile, you know that I’m a huge fan of the hands-off approach that Teaching Textbook allows. Teaching Textbooks does the teaching, grading and recording for me! Besides purchasing and setting up the student accounts, there really isn’t a ton left for me to do!

Yes, I do check in about once a week, just to make sure progress is being made while I’m lounging around the house, enjoying all of my extra free time. But this literally takes me less than 3 minutes a week.

12 Things You Didn’t Know About Teaching Textbooks

While you think you may know all there is to know about the oh-so-popular math curriculum, there are probably still a few things you didn’t know about Teaching Textbooks!

Great for Struggling Readers:

Until you’ve dealt with a struggling reader, you have no idea how nice it is to have a MATH program that is designed with struggling readers in mind.

Teaching Textbooks reads each problem, answer and solution out loud for the student. Because nothing kills confidence quite like struggling to figure out what the problem is, let alone how to work it out.

When a child struggles with reading, they start out feeling defeated before they even begin. The gentle voices encourage kids and builds confidence. It allows the students to shine in a subject that otherwise might leave them feeling overwhelmed or impossible.

Interactive Lessons:

Teaching Textbooks doesn’t just present the problems and expect the kids to follow along. Instead, kids input numbers, symbols and solutions before they can move on.

The interactive lessons really help reinforce what is being taught because students participate instead of just watch!

Hints, Practices, Second Chances:

Teaching Textbooks goes above and beyond to ensure your student has all the help they need, so they aren’t constantly asking YOU for help! With hints, practice problems and second chances, they have plenty of opportunities to figure out exactly what they need.

Reference Numbers:

One reason I hated math as a kid was that I never knew where to turn when I needed help. If I missed just one lesson in public school, it seemed like I spent the next semester trying to get caught up.

But with Teaching Textbooks’ easy-to-use reference numbers, you can see exactly where each concept was taught. If your student is struggling with a problem, they can quickly click over to the lesson where the concept was taught and rewatch the lecture again.

Try and Try Again

If your kiddo doesn’t quite understand a lecture, no problem! They’re allowed to go back and watch the lecture as many times as they need. They can pause it as needed, which is great for little ones with short attention spans.

Free Tutoring:

This is probably the biggest thing I didn’t know about Teaching Textbooks! A few years ago, when we got stuck, we jumped ship and ended up regretting it for the next several months. After fighting our way through a different curriculum, we made our way back to Teaching Textbooks.

It was only THEN that we discovered that Teaching Textbooks offers free tutoring for struggling students!

All you have to do is contact Teaching Textbooks Customer Service and tell them exactly which lesson and problem your student is struggling with. A tutor will then return your call and walk your child, step-by-step through the problem until they fully grasp the concepts.

This benefit alone sets Teaching Textbooks apart from all other math curriculum on the market.

Use It Anywhere:

Back in the day, we used Teaching Textbooks on CDs. I hated lugging those CDs on our road trips, to the library or wheverever we went. It was just a lot of extra work.

But then Teaching Textbooks 4.0 rolled out and they offered an app version of Teaching Textbooks. My world was shooketh.

Best of all, you can download lessons if you know you’re not going to have steady internet available. That means they can download lessons to do in the car! (YEEES! My kids did do almost half of their math curriculum on our huge road trip a few years ago!)
